Staging Your Home To Sell

While the weather today may seem otherwise, spring is right around the corner. With spring, comes sunshine, showers, and more home selling opportunities. One big mistake home sellers make is not having their home staged properly. When potential buyers look at your home they want to be able to picture themselves living in it, and that can be hard to do when the home is too cluttered. Below are a few tips to help make sure your home is staImage titleged perfectly to sell!

Front Door Clean Up. Let's start with the area that buyers see first, the front yard.  Mow the grass, plant some flowers. Every yard is different, stand across the street and look at your house as if you were the buyer. Does the grass need cut? Are there some spacing on the roof? Could your front door use a new coat of paint? The phrase, "first impressions are everything" fits in this situation perfectly. You don't want a potential buyer to have their mind made up in a negative way before they walk through the door.

Let's Talk Spring Cleaning. Naturally, most will clean the house up when this season arrives. If hoping to sell your home, scrub away! One of the best feelings to have is the sense of accomplishment when you've cleaned your home top to bottom, and got rid of unnecessary items in the middle.

Appeal To The Senses. Not only is spring a colorful season, but also extremely fragrant. Let the natural smells fill your home. Open windows and notice the stuffy smell escape instantly. They say smell is the strongest sense of the five, why not appeal to it. Also, smells can effect one's mood. What gives a more cheery smell than springtime? Incorporate the outdoor breeze with a nice candle, or fresh linens and enjoy!

Get Creative With Color. Typically, when one thinks of spring they also think of bright colors. Why not incorporate that into your home? Put away all of you winter decorations and bedding. Spruce up your living space with plants, bright throw pillows, etc.

Less Is More. If you can, put away or move out as much of your own items as possible. Remember, it's hard to imagine others living in the house when it's filled with your personal items.
