Spring is getting closer for Southwest Missouri. Have you thought about freshening up the outside of your home? Updating the outside of your home is great way to start off the new season, and if you're trying to sell this will help for sure!

Here are a few ideas to update your home exterior:

  • Add plants and flowers on the outside of your fence. Curb appeal starts at the curb — so instead of just planting inside the border of your fence or stone wall, plant some just outside it as well. The extra layer of color will create a sense of depth. This can make your front yard appear larger. If you don't have a fence in the front, you can plant between the curb and the sidewalk to create a similar effect.

  • Doesn't matter if you have a large porch or not, you can add potted flowers to add a beautiful touch to the front of your house. You can place large pots on either side of your door or even group them to add even more color.

  • Make your front door stand out. Have a little fun with it, and paint it a bright color that will catch anyone's eye. A fresh paint job to your front door can do wonders! If you're feeling adventurous, paint it red! If you want to keep the colors more neutral, nut still want it to pop, try a brown or a soft blue.

  • Time to take care of the grass. Give it a full trim; from mowing, weeding, and even watering.

  • Lastly, touch up the house. Can you see some spots on your roof that are in need of some attention? If you notice spacing or curling at the edges, it's time to call a professional. It's also important to clean all of your windows, now that the blinds are being pulled back you don't want all of the dirt and finger prints to show through. While your at it, see if your house could use a bath. It doesn't hurt to power wash your home to make it sparkly clean!
